Connected partners

Connected partners lets a maintenance company or service company that works with Cora look at one of your tanks, so it can see how the tank is doing without asking you for photos and numbers. You decide which tank, what the company can see and for how long. A company can read, and it can add service records to your Journal only if you allow that. It can never control your equipment.

Before you start

  • Connecting a company needs a paid plan, Cora Essential or higher. The Free plan and the trial don't include it, and if you try on one of them Cora Mobile opens the plans. See Plans and subscriptions.
  • The company has to support Cora. Cora Mobile doesn't search for companies: you make a code and give it to yours, and they enter it on their side. Ask the company whether they can connect.
  • Each connection is for one tank. Connect more than one tank by repeating the steps for each.
  • Removing a tank disconnects every company connected to it.

Connecting a company

  1. Open Settings, tap your tank under Tanks, then tap Connected partners ("Let a maintenance company read this tank").
  2. Tap Connect a maintenance company.
  3. Before you connect explains what the company will be able to see. Read it, then tap Continue. Tap Cancel to stop; no code is made.
  4. Cora Mobile shows a Connection code with a countdown ("Expires in"). Tap Copy, or read it out, and give it to your company.
  5. When the company uses the code, the sheet closes and you see "Connected to" and the company's name.
Before you connect: what the company will see, and that it can't control anything.

The code works once and for 15 minutes. If it runs out, the code is struck through and Get a new code makes another. If you close the sheet before anyone uses it, the code stops working. A new code replaces any unused one for that tank. Cora also limits how many codes you can make in an hour, so don't make them in bulk.

If the same company connects to the tank again, the new connection replaces its earlier one.

A company's card, with its two switches and Disconnect. The company name is blurred here.

Each connected company gets a card with its name, the date it was connected and when it was last used, or "Not used yet". Pull down on the list to refresh it.

What the company can see

Once connected, the company can read this one tank:

  • Its live readings
  • Up to 30 days of history
  • Your recent water tests
  • Your latest ICP report
  • Its active alerts

It can't control your devices or change your settings, and it sees nothing about your other tanks or your account. Your Journal and notes are never shared. Cora's own written analysis is not shared unless you turn it on for that company (next section).

What the company does with what it reads is covered by that company's own privacy policy. Cora's side is in the privacy policy.

Share Cora's analysis

To share Cora's analysis with a company:

  1. Open Settings, tap your tank, then Connected partners.
  2. On the company's card, turn on Share Cora's analysis.
  3. Read what the company will also see, then tap Share.

Every company card has a switch, Share Cora's analysis, with the note "ICP write-ups, ICP history and the PDF, and Reef Buddy". It's off until you turn it on.

When you turn it on, Cora Mobile asks "Share Cora's analysis with" the company's name, and says the company will also see:

  • Cora's written ICP analysis: the summary, comments on each element, contaminants, dosing impact and action items
  • Your past ICP reports and the original lab PDF
  • The daily Reef Buddy briefing

Cora's analysis is written for you as the owner and may include dosing advice, so think about whether your company should see it. Tap Share to confirm or Cancel. Turning the switch off again takes effect straight away and doesn't ask. More about these reports in ICP and health reports and Reef Buddy.

Letting a company log services

Each card also has Let this company log services, which shows the company's name in place of "this company" when Cora Mobile knows it. The note under it says "Services they log appear in your Journal." It's off until you turn it on.

With it on, the company can add a record of a service it did or skipped on this tank. A record can have a title, the date and time it was done, the piece of equipment it was done on and notes. The company still can't read your Journal; it can only add to it.

A record doesn't tick off any task in Maintenance. It's a Journal entry and nothing more. Cora can take it into account like the other things you write in your Journal.

How these entries look

In the Journal, an entry from a company carries a small building icon and From the company's name. If the company has no name on record, it says "From a connected service company". An entry for a service that wasn't done has a Skipped chip.

Tap one to open Journal entry. It shows the title, who it is from, "Performed" with the date, "Equipment" with the item and any details, and Notes. The text is the company's own words, shown exactly as written and never translated. You can't edit it: the screen says "Written by the company, so it can't be edited. To remove it, swipe it away in your Journal." Delete it the way you delete any entry. If you delete one, the company can't bring it back by sending it again. The company can also withdraw an entry it logged by mistake.

Disconnecting a company

  1. Open Connected partners for the tank.
  2. Tap Disconnect on the company's card.
  3. Confirm the question "Disconnect" followed by the company's name. The company loses access to this tank right away.

You can connect it again later with a new code. Entries the company already added to your Journal stay there until you delete them. The company can also end a connection from its side, and the card then disappears when the list refreshes.

To narrow what a company sees without disconnecting, turn off Share Cora's analysis or Let this company log services.

If something looks wrong

  • Paused: not included in your plan. Your plan no longer includes connected partners. The company stays on the list but can't read the tank. Tap the chip, which says See plans, to open the plans. Upgrading to Cora Essential or higher lifts the pause.
  • Could not create a code, or could not load the connected companies. Check your connection and try again. Retry is on the list.
  • The company says the code doesn't work. It may have expired or already been used. Make a new one with Get a new code.
  • The company isn't on the list after it connected. Pull down to refresh.
  • You can't find Connected partners. It's on the tank's settings page, so open the tank first. A removed tank doesn't show it.
